I have been searching for pool house inspiration forever. Ever since we put the pool in, I’ve wanted to create a true backyard retreat, but I’ve struggled with what would be beautiful and practical.

This means I have spent hours scouring blogs and Pinterest looking for ideas! The result is, I still haven’t found the perfect one for us, but I sure have found some incredibly beautiful spaces to share.

Today I’m sharing 41 of the most amazing pool houses I’ve found. This is your guide to amazing pool-side living!

The Classic Pool House: A Look of Timeless Luxury

I have to admit, there’s no doubt that a pool house just feels like a symbol of luxury and good times. Those classic pool houses really lean into this idea.

It’s not just that they are functional, but their whole look just brings that perfect “holiday postcard” vibe to life. Think about shingle roofs, an elegant and classic shape, and beautiful materials like wood and stone. It all comes together to create a feeling of tradition and serious opulence.

Breezy, Sea-Inspired Pool Houses

Next up are the pool houses that seem to be everywhere lately, and I am so here for it. I’m talking about those breezy, fun spaces inspired by the sun, sand, and ocean. Styles like coastal, beach, and nautical are just so popular for these kinds of spaces.

They have such a cheerful feeling, don’t they? They totally remind me of lazy summer evenings, which makes them a huge hit with pretty much everyone. Dressed up in white and blue, they instantly grab your attention and actually work so well with modern homes, too.

Style, Space, and Decor

Okay, so beyond just the look, let’s talk about the planning part. First, you have to think about the space you actually have. How big is your pool, your yard, and the main house?

Your pool house needs to feel proportional to everything else and really use every square inch you can give it. Even in smaller gardens, a little pool and a tiny pool house can make such a big impact.

I’ve even seen people convert an old garage or shed into a beautiful, functional pool house. What a great idea! If you’re lucky enough to have more space, you could design something that gives you both a sheltered and an open-air spot to lounge.

You can add all kinds of elements, depending on your space and lifestyle, like a guest room, a bathroom, an outdoor shower, a little kitchen, or a BBQ area. But finally, you must make room for lots of storage.

And don’t forget to plan for some private areas so your guests feel comfortable and at home when they come over for a pool party!

Modern Pool House Bliss

A modern pool house is so much more than just a spot to hide all your pool gear and extra towels. It’s really a space where the whole family can relax, recharge, and just be together while enjoying the sunshine.

You can add comfy outdoor decor, maybe a cool couch, some chairs, and a coffee table to create a sitting area. An outdoor dining spot (or one inside!) turns it into a whole secondary living space. I love the clean lines and smart, modern designs that match the silhouette of the main house.

It just makes the pool house blend so easily with the whole landscape. Modern furniture is definitely a key element for a backyard retreat. A rattan chaise lounge chair would be the perfect accent. You could get one in a sleek, simple white or go for a bright blue to add a pop of chic color.

More Inspiring Ideas

If you’re looking for more design choices, there are so many options. Some of the most popular ideas I’ve seen include adding a bar area with comfy seating, a mini kitchenette, and a big TV for entertaining.

You could also add a fireplace to create a cozy atmosphere and, of course, more comfortable outdoor furniture for lounging. For a really luxurious touch, I’ve dreamed about adding a steam shower or a sauna.

Other great ideas are a hot tub, another outdoor shower, or a sound system for playing music.
