20 Chic Outdoor Eating Space Ideas

There are two things that I’m obsessed with when it comes to home design: creating beautiful spaces and enjoying the outdoors. Combine the two and I’m in design heaven!

Today I wanted to merge my two dream worlds and share some of the prettiest outdoor dining ideas to inspire you to see the possibilities for your own backyard.

Get that Island Vibe

For me, there’s nothing better than bringing that vacation feeling right into my own backyard with a rattan dining set. Rattan is perfect for the outdoors because it’s comfortable and makes a statement. Add some blue cushions for an island touch and a few flowers to pull it all together.

I love the idea of creating an island-inspired, almost vacation-like feel in my own backyard. Pairing a distressed table with some rattan chairs is the perfect way to do it.

Add in some ocean hues like blues and greens to get that wide-open feeling. The distressed table gives it a contemporary touch that feels very resort-inspired. You could even go all-in and find a complete dining set made from rattan!

Keep it Simple and Colorful

If you want to introduce color but can’t figure out an easy way, just switch up your cushion hues to a vivid shade that the rest of your decor will embrace. Some intricate lighting adds to the simple yet colorful world you’re building.

A colorful space that’s still beautiful and simple is a total win in my book. The key is to keep the rest of the decor as minimal as possible.

If you have a dining table you’re not using, pair it with a modest flower arrangement in some bright hues. This approach adds a pop of color with natural pieces instead of just adding more furniture and clutter.

Go for Marble

Marble tables are usually just a slab of marble with rounded edges. But if you want a more contemporary vibe, a two-seater with a marble pattern is perfect. It feels intimate and modern while still giving off that calming effect.

While marble is a go-to for kitchens, it’s also an amazing material to use in your outdoor eating space. When you’re working with a marble table, I think a round shape is the way to go.

Round tables create a more intimate atmosphere, which works perfectly with marble to create a warm feeling that is beautiful all around.

A Mediterranean Touch

The great thing about Mediterranean decor is how polished the layout looks with almost no extra decor. By keeping it simple with signature pieces like a glass table, unique chairs, and a fireplace, you create the perfect setting.

A Mediterranean-decorated outdoor area is ideal for entertaining because it’s so versatile. Add some Mediterranean-inspired seating at your dining table to really bring the style home.

The whole idea is to keep your decor simple while featuring those staple Mediterranean items.

Try Shabby Chic

For that trademark shabby chic look, add different kinds of chairs. This lets you get creative with pieces you wanted to use but were afraid to try. Pair them with plants for a lived-in yet effortless effect.

Shabby Chic has come onto the scene in a big way, and I’m here for it. Use white tables and chairs to get that shabby feel, and then pair them with crystal and touches of patterned pieces.

This gives you that bold yet simplistic touch that the style is so well known for. If you can get your hands on some fringe pieces, even better!

Cozy Banquette Seating

Creating a banquette-style seating area is perfect when you want an intimate space that fits multiple people, but it’s also great for relaxing with guests after a fun get-together.

Banquette seating is a great choice if you have guests who like to linger after the main event is over. These spots are comfortable and cozy while still looking super stylish.

I love the idea of adding a wooden table to complete the whole look.

Create Enchanting Allure

It looks charming on its own, but when you add an edgy touch, it immediately gets a contemporary-feel upgrade. Pair it with pastel grays and blues alongside marble or metallics.

Creating an enchanting, almost romantic dining area gives you a space that is feminine and sweet. Use things like chandeliers, and mix cool tones with metallics and pastels to really bring that alluring aspect to life.

An outdoor fireplace is a great addition to continue that whimsical feel throughout the whole space.

Go With Gray

Gray is the ideal definition of a cool and collected color that is still undeniably chic.

Gray is the perfect way to define a cool and collected color that is still super chic. The chic part comes from its versatility.

It’s an amazing additional color that works well with any other shade you pair it with. Try it with some vibrant hues to bring out a feminine charm.

Modern Goes Coastal

Stay in the blue and red family for that modern coastal atmosphere. Put a rug in the middle of your outdoor seating for that homey warmth that you normally only get indoors. Plus, some creative lighting will bring the coastal vibe straight to your dining area.

You can create an indoor/outdoor atmosphere with a canopy. A canopy really helps to form the space and brings an intimate aspect to your dining area.

Use nautical hues for that coastal touch, but keep it feeling modern with different seats that still manage to work well together. This will make sure the area feels both modern and very coastal.

Let the View Shine

When you’re embracing nature, you might as well do it the right way by incorporating it seamlessly into your decor. The best method is adding natural elements that are already part of the scenery. Think about having industrial lamps for a chic feel that doesn’t mess with your decor.

Sometimes your surrounding space is the perfect major element to bring that chicness. Use a neutral color palette and allow your beautiful outside view to make the ultimate statement.

Add a chandelier or even just a few candles to the area to bring in a more romantic touch.

Your outdoor space absolutely deserves to be one of your favorite areas in your home. Which of these are you thinking about trying in your own space? Let me know in the comments below.
