Are you looking at that empty corner? Thinking it needs a plant? I get it! But a simple pot on the floor won’t always cut it. We need something with drama, something special.
I’ve gathered up some of my absolute favorite DIYs that are easy, budget-friendly, and will totally transform your space! Let’s check them out.
DIY Plant Stand Projects
First up, let’s look at the stands! You need a beautiful place to put that perfect planter, after all.
These paint-dipped pots are so completely on-trend! I just love this idea. Heather from The Lovely Cupboard used some budget-friendly IKEA planters and even leftover paint samples. Talk about a clever design approach! This is such a smart idea for a unique project.

I know I’ve shared this Concrete and Copper Plant Stand project from Claire Zinnecker before, but it’s just perfect for this roundup. It’s making another appearance!
I think the look is just fabulous. It’s so raw and modern, which I love. It really fits this big trend of celebrating simple forms and materials!

Not feeling a big project? Just use a ladder. Yes, a ladder! This idea from Funky Junk Interiors is so smart. You can leave it earthy and rustic or paint it for a more modern look. You decide! Just make sure you give it a dose of personality.

This next project was one of the inspirations for this whole post! It’s a DIY Modern Pillar Planter from Curbly. I just love that it uses PVC pipe. Can you believe it? It’s the perfect way to add some much needed height to an outdoor vignette.

Here’s a brand new project from A Beautiful Mess. It’s a DIY Midcentury Style Plant Stand! Given how retro-fabulous it is, you will be shocked by the easy to follow process for bringing it to life!

I am absolutely in love with the design on this DIY Painted Geometric Planter! The full tutorial over at Merriment Design shows you how to do it. It involves some strategic use of painter’s tape to get those crisp lines. So beautiful!

This DIY Wooden Plant Stand from blogger Elise Blaha Cripe gives you so much room. You can display an entire army of plants! While lots of today’s projects show planters covered with paint, I like how these pictures feature terracotta pots in all their earthy glory.

Do you have an old file cabinet sitting around? You can turn it into a planter! Can you believe that?! Just take out the drawers, flip it horizontally, and give it a coat of Rustoleum paint so it doesn’t rust. You’re in business! Head over to Boopy Projects for the complete tutorial.

For one more Midcentury style plant stand, check out this two tiered stand tutorial from Mandi of A Beautiful Mess. This one involves using pre-cut wooden circles and dowels. It’s so easy to craft and wonderfully modern!

Isn’t this DIY Hanging Garden from HomeMade Modern just a contemporary work of art?! The clean lines and the uniform rows of crisp plants are so divine! Would you believe me if I told you that you can craft your own for $30 in only 2 hours? Believe it!

Making this DIY Modern Planter is so simple. It’s as easy as buying two pots from the dollar store. They can have any design on them! You just glue them together and then spray paint them any color you choose. This idea comes from Seattle Refined.

From circles to squares! This clean lined modern plant stand from Homey Oh My! is made from wood and a ceramic tile. I love that you can personalize this look with whatever tile you choose.

And since we’re talking about old cabinets, here is one more amazing project from HomeMade Modern. It’s a DIY Concrete Planter! They made it using an old cabinet, some Quikrete, foam insulation, and a few other key items.
I love that casters make it easy to move around, and it even has a spigot for drainage. Such a smart idea! There’s a full tutorial with a helpful video. A little warning here though, this project does require some heavy lifting!

Now, this plant stand is actually for sale, so it’s not a DIY idea. But I’m so inspired just looking at it. I can feel a project coming on!
I’m wondering if a fold-up step stool and some long trays could be the materials to make something similar. What do you guys think?

Did you notice all the beautiful natural wood in these projects? And those pops of color like white, yellow, and blue?
Sometimes clean, crisp neutrals are the perfect foundation, but a bold pop of color never hurts. I hope there is something here that inspires you to create your perfect space!
