I love having plants all over my home. There is something so soothing about the freshness and color they bring into a room. They’re like a natural air filter that also adds texture and a gorgeous, luxurious feel.
But I’ve heard from so many of you that figuring out how to decorate with them can be a challenge. It’s true! It can be tricky. For anyone having a tough time, I’ve gathered up a few ideas to help you out!
A Large Statement
While I adore small plants for adding texture, large ones bring such a lovely, airy feeling to a room. The secret, I’ve found, is to display just one at a time, often tucked into a corner.
Have you ever had one of those awkward wall spaces you just don’t know what to do with? This is the perfect solution.
It completely takes away that awkward vibe and helps you use the whole room. It’s a great way to make the space feel complete.
Tuck Them on a Side Table
I have to admit, I’ve struggled with styling side tables. It’s just hard to find items that are the right size! When I’m stuck, I love to add tiny plants.
These smaller plants are perfect. They add so much to the table and bring in a decorative touch that feels so classic.
I’m a huge fan of grouping a bunch of different little plants together. It creates that wonderful fresh, green look that I’m always going for.
Bring Them in the Kitchen
I know the kitchen might seem like an odd place for a big plant, but I think it should be one of the first places you try!
Plants are just fantastic for breathing new life into the kitchen. There is something so refreshing about the feeling they add, and it’s almost impossible to get that feeling any other way.
I adore the idea of adding one large plant and letting it make a huge statement. It’s a showstopper! Whether it’s the color, the texture, or just the size, a plant might be exactly what your kitchen needs.
Use Plant Stands
Plant stands are such a great decorating tool. They are perfect for letting you play with the height of your plants, and they really give each one the spotlight it deserves.
Plus, you can get so creative with the stands themselves and how you place them. You could group them all together for a big impact or find a stylish little spot for just one. I’ve even seen people hang them, which gives such a great elevated look.
Try Cascading Plants
Here’s another really versatile idea: cascading plants. I find these work best when you really let them be the main focus of the room.
There is something so luxurious about having a beautiful cascading plant. Just one can bring so much freshness to the space. Or, you could add a whole bunch of them to create a gorgeous, layered look of color.
Consider Flowers
If you have an area in your home that just feels like it’s missing some color or texture, have you thought about adding flowers? I love flowers because they add so many beautiful colors to a room all at once.
Colorful plants just bring a little something extra, and I adore that you can change them out over time. You can just swap them out whenever you feel like you need a new pop of color or texture in the space. So easy!
Add Bedroom Freshness
It is so easy to add a dose of freshness to the bedroom with just a plant or two. I think the key is to bring in one large plant and really make it the main focus.
You’ll want to set it near your bed, which is perfect for filtering the room’s air. I’ve also read that having a plant in the bedroom can help you sleep better. How great is that!? It acts like a constant, natural air-revolving system.
How About A Cactus?
If you’ve ever wanted to own a cactus, now is totally the time. Cacti are great as house plants because they don’t need a lot of maintenance.
They look amazing, last a long time, and you can put them in so many different spots without messing up your decor. I think of them as the perfect hint of color, while still having that rugged and chic vibe.
Use Multiple Sizes
I love this idea. Bring in a bunch of different sized plants to really give them a true spotlight. Most of the time, we just display one plant and call it a day, right? But using multiple sizes can create such a colorful, staple look in the room.
It’s the perfect blend to enhance the room’s whole aesthetic. This idea is especially great if you have a smaller room, because it gives you a sense of division. Creating that separation will actually make the room feel larger and more pulled together.
Grow Plants Vertically
Why display your plants in the usual way when you could try a more modern form? Having a modern format is fantastic when you want to add a creative touch.
A really great way to get that modern touch is to grow them vertically. I love this because vertically displayed plants can be hung from any wall in your home.
If you display a few of them together, it makes such a big difference in the room. Plus, you’re adding color and texture all at the same time!
Which of these ideas is your favorite? I’d love to know! Leave me a comment and tell me!
