Decorating for Thanksgiving can feel overwhelming, especially when it is sandwiched between two major holidays. The idea is to have your decor feel just a bit more welcoming, but where do you start?
Today I wanted to share some ideas to help you create a cozy and thankful home with ease.
1. A Cozy Tablescape
The heart of Thanksgiving is definitely gathering around the table for a meal together. So why not really lean into that and make your table setup as cozy as it can be?
I’m thinking about adding lights, maybe swapping chairs for a bench, and definitely bringing in some throw pillows. It creates such a warm and intimate feeling that is both cozy and totally chic.
2. Charming Mason Jars
I’ve always thought that no matter the season, mason jars are just a fantastic decorating tool. They have a way of fitting into any room’s decor so effortlessly. You can bring in a few mason jars and fill them with some simple fall items.
I love the idea of scattering them around the table or placing them in different spots in the room for a welcoming touch that enhances everything without being overpowering.
3. Vibrant Red Florals
Even though the weather is getting cooler, fresh flowers are never a bad idea. I think this is the perfect time to bring a big splash of color into a room.
You can do this with a centerpiece that is just bursting with red florals. It acts as such a beautiful, brightening color that makes the whole space feel so inviting.
4. Alfresco Dining
If the weather where you are is still nice enough to be outdoors, you should absolutely take advantage of that and set up a table outside! I love the idea of adding some string lights to give the space a cozy glow.
It makes an outdoor spot feel so welcoming and intimate. The goal is to create a festive atmosphere without going overboard on the decorations.
5. A Touch of Apples
Here’s a new idea for your decor: use apples to bring in a pop of color. While we usually think of apples for fall, they can be a perfect addition in the right context.
I’m imagining using a mix of different colored apples to make the room feel both cohesive and modern all at once. It’s all about that warm, cozy, and colorful feeling.
6. Simply Minimal
I’ve really come to appreciate minimal decor for bringing in just the right touch without overwhelming a space. It’s a way to get the most impact without cluttering what’s already there.
This is simple decorating done perfectly. The key is to add small bits of color while keeping the overall palette neutral for a really beautiful display.
7. Earthy Wood Plates
If you’re looking for a really unique way to present your food that still involves plates, think about using wood. Wood plates are super popular right now because they have this minimal yet chic vibe.
It doesn’t matter if you’re serving the main course or dessert; making the wood plates a focal point will really elevate your whole decor scheme.
8. Signs of Gratitude
Thanksgiving is truly about being thankful and counting our blessings, so I think adding gratitude signs is just the perfect touch. They are so sweet and you can make them as personal as you want.
I love that you can customize them to fit your own style. It’s a great way to make the most of your decorating. I’ve even thought about putting one in an awkward corner to brighten up the whole room.
9. A Modern Pumpkin Centerpiece
After Halloween passes, you might have a few pumpkins still around the house. If you do, you should totally use one for your centerpiece! I’m not talking about a traditional jack-o’-lantern, but something more modern and upscale.
The idea is to create a sleek design that fits in with your existing decor but also feels special and unique for the holiday.
10. The Classic Cornucopia
You know, sometimes you just want to go with classic pieces that give the room a really traditional feel. And what could be more classic for Thanksgiving than a cornucopia?
It doesn’t matter if you make it yourself or buy one; the goal is to have it be the main centerpiece for your whole table. Then you can match the rest of your decorations to the little bits and pieces inside and around the cornucopia.
