Summer nights are finally here! I have been talking about how beautiful it would be to have an outdoor space filled with cozy lights.
Apparently, this is becoming more important as we spend time in our own spaces. It’s not about what you use, but how you decide to display them!
Here are inspiring ideas that are sure to make you want to rush to Hobby Lobby.
1. Glowing Mason Jars
This is such an easy and fun DIY! Plus, it can totally double as an indoor decorative item too. The main idea is to use jars in a bunch of different shapes and even sizes to really showcase what your space has to offer.
Then, just add some different colored string lights inside. You can just watch your patio take on a whole new life instantly. I love this for taking your décor to the next level with a really cost-effective touch.
2. Light Up the Porch
If you’re lucky enough to have a large porch, you have to take full advantage of it and let it be the main focus of your home. You can take it to the next level by adding lighting right up above.
So many porches just don’t have light fixtures, which is fine if you only plan to sit out there during the daytime. But if you want to create that vacation oasis feel all day long, adding lighting to the ceiling is the answer. Doing this creates such a soft, lovely appeal and a truly welcoming charm.
3. Twinkling String Lights
Is there anything more romantic than string lights? I mean, probably! But can anything else make such a bold statement while still feeling so whimsical and enchanting? I don’t think so.
String lights are famous for being that perfect extra item that just makes any room come to life. It’s all about adding that romantic aesthetic right where you need it. Try bringing in string lights in a few different sizes for a really cool, contrasting contemporary look.
4. Add a Pop of Color
Most of the time, light fixtures just come in one or two hues, like white or clear. But you should totally consider a colorful twist with iridescent lights! They are so charming and chic, and they add a little something extra.
If you really want to take it to the next level, bring in some truly colorful ones. That contrast from colorful lights will brighten the room immediately and add a fun, modern twist. You could even layer them up for the ultimate look.
5. A Soft Walkway Glow
When in doubt, just bring in some soft light and add it all along your walkway. That simple act of lighting up the path instantly makes any space feel new and so much more expansive.
You could even say it creates a magical, almost floating approach to your home. To take it to the next level, you could make your walkway lights sensor-activated! That means they only turn on when someone is walking by or at a specific time of day. So smart!
6. Cozy Up by the Firepit
There’s just something so relaxing about sitting around a firepit, isn’t there? Just embracing every second of its warmth. I love this idea.
Take your outdoor space to the next level by bringing in a firepit that’s planted right in the ground and then adding seats all around it.
That simple act of bringing in extra seating will instantly give the space a vacation-like vibe. It’s the perfect excuse to really embrace the space you already have.
7. Wrap Your Trees
Is your backyard full of big, beautiful trees? If so, it’s time to embrace every inch and let that part of your yard become the main focus. The key is to add multiple different lights right to the tree and have it become the star of the show.
Just think of it as one of the easiest ways to make your trees the main staples while still being super easy on the eye. You must use LED lights that do not heat up! This is so important.
Fires can be caused by friction, so you absolutely want lights that will not cause a fire when they’re hung up.
8. Illuminate the Fence
Your fence needs just as much lighting as the rest of your home! So many people tend to forget or displace this area, but it can add a completely different layer of dimension right where you need it most.
Try adding multiple layers of lights and letting them become the ultimate finishing touch. I also love the idea of using vintage bulbs for a larger, more contemporary appeal.
9. Dine Under a Chandelier
Outdoor dining has to be one of the best things to do during the summer. You don’t just get to enjoy the view of the outdoors, but you also get to sit back and relax with family and friends.
One of the biggest issues many of us have when eating outside is just not having enough light when the sun goes down. So, why not bring out a chandelier?
Pair it with some LED candles for a bold appeal that totally enhances your outdoor space.
10. Go Big and Bold
Sometimes you just don’t want to go the simple route. Sometimes you want something larger and more engaging. When that’s the case, just take it overboard!
Blend an array of different light fixtures and allow them to be the main focus. You want to bring a large appearance to that specific area, creating a beaming light that engages the whole room.
Keep your outdoor space modern and cozy with one of these ideas. Which one is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below! Happy decorating!
